Why was St. Valentine so important?


Claudius was in power in Rome about eight hundred years before Valentine's Day. He felt that marriage was terrible because it made poor soldiers out of men. So, Claudius banned marriage from his empire. St. Valentine disagreed with this rule, so he would secretly marry couples that came to him. However, St. Valentine's luck ran out, and soon after, he was stoned and then beheaded.
